YouTube Post: How to be an Early Riser

I'm back with another YouTube post and weekly follow-up blog! First, I will pat myself on the back for sticking with this, even if it's only been a few weeks. This feels like a manageable cadence and process, so I hope you all enjoy it and find the blog recaps helpful!

This week, I reacted to a Life Pro Tip Reddit Request: How to be an Early Riser?

If you haven't watched the video, check it out here:

My tips for waking up earlier and some of the top comments are below:

Go to Bed Earlier

I struggled to wake up early because I was deprived of sleep on the front end. I had no constraints on my bedtime but a constraint on my rising hours, which ate into the amount of sleep I could get every night and created a backlog of constant tiredness. Now, I constrain my sleep on the front end. My bedtime is 9 p.m. to ensure I get my sleep goal of 8-9 hours. Yes, I need more than the average. Play around with your sleep schedule and find what works for you.

Find a morning activity that motivates you to get out of bed

No scrolling social media doesn't count! Find something that makes you physically want to get up! For me, that motivation was exercising and giving myself back hours in my day that didn't belong to my job. When I wake up early, it's refreshing to have almost three hours before I clock in to work to do me!

It's also motivating that my day doesn't start with demanding work requests. I get to choose peace in my first couple hours of waking, and THAT is worth waking up for.

Here's to all the future early risers!
